Have you ever gotten your pictures taken at the WalMarts, or the Sears or even the local studio? Well, this is the complete opposite of your experience there. A typical session with me involves you and your family or your pets doing just what they would be doing on any normal day. Because I do not do studio work, my backdrop is going to be an outdoor location. It can be your favorite park, beach or meadow or even your favorite hang out. How about your car, the bleachers at your school, the baseball field where you practiced for Little League, the corn field where you run away to hide from everyday life. Just about anything can be our studio. The possibilities are endless. Your session should revolve around you and your personalities!
For your pets, I prefer to do those sessions in and around your home. Your pet is most comfortable and calm there. But if there is some place that you and your pet prefer, I’d be happy to check it out!
What do I wear? Please wear whatever is most comfortable for you! I suggest you go slightly better than what you wear every day. Try NOT to dress in all white! White drowns people out and we can’t have that! Think about it this way: What would you wear on a first date? What would you wear meeting your girlfriend/boyfriend’s parents for the first time? What would you wear to meet your soon-to-be in-laws for the first time? Am I starting to make sense? If you showed up in a tuxedo and a frilly pink chiffon dress I will gladly take those photos for you but don’t expect me not to ask questions! I am open to any ideas you may have for your wardrobe. We’ll be able to talk about things like this in our discussions once we set up a session date!
Ok, I see pictures of pets and people in your portfolio. Which do you do? I do both! I feel like I just don’t see the family pet enough in family photos. I absolutely adore seeing the furry family member bonding with the rest of the family.
What style is your photography? My style is based around the children at play. The family being themselves with each other. The pets running all over tarnation and just being themselves. I like to capture those moments when the subject thinks that nobody else is looking. I love children’s expressions and reactions to whatever is happening around them. My main goal for a pet session is to capture him/her smiling! So in a nutshell, my style is to JUST BE!
What about inclement weather? Since I book my sessions on Saturdays, our automatic make-up day is going to be Sunday. Occasionally, I will book sessions during the week if it works out for the both of us. If the weather is bad on our weekday session, then we’ll be in touch to schedule our make-up date.
How long will the session last? Typically a session can last up to an hour and a half but sometimes we can exceed that. If there’s a little one that needs a bit more coaxing to get a smile, I don’t mind.
