I experimented with textures this time. This was definitely fun! I think I’ll incorporate more textures into my work!

Eye Of The…Peacock? | Brandon, FL Pet Photographer
September 1, 2010
Many of you do not know that my Dad is a farmer through and through. I grew up on a dairy farm and let me tell you, it is by far the best way to grow up. You learn all kinds of responsibility, poise and values. Yes, I absolutely said poise. Your looking at the 1996 Douglas County Dairy Princess! I had to have learned something to achieve such a title. But that’s besides the point. My parents have been retired from dairy farming for around 10 years now and I think my dad misses being “busy”. You know, feeding the cows and plinking around on the farm. So to fill his void of cows, he has acquired birds. Birds. Sigh. Chickens so that he can pick the eggs and sell them locally. That’s right! Organically grown eggs and they are DELICIOSO! We had eggs every day were home this last time. Yumm! Ducks so that they can get their little heads stuck in the cage that my dad has made for them. We got Dad’s ducks out of a couple sticky situations while we were home. And last but not least, Peacocks. I don’t believe they serve any purpose whatsoever but they sure are beautiful. You really can’t go in the cage and hang out with them. I guess his Peacocks are a little territorial and they might peck the heck outta ya. He has a male and a female. I believe he will try to breed them but I’m not quite sure. I think he has them just because they’re beautiful and people will drive by the farm and stop in just to see the Peacocks. Just like they did when we had a pet Deer. Oh yes, Roxy. Roxy ate too much corn one day and bloated and passed away on us when I was like 10 or something but we indeed did have a pet Deer. So without further ado, here are my beautiful eyes that my Daddy picked for me right before we left on our last trip home.

I promise the Dad didn't pluck these right off the birds! The male had shed, so he picked them off the ground people! The ground!

And this is exactly how my Ma wanted me to display them. In a beautiful vase where people could see my Dad's beautiful tail feathers.
Yup, right in front of my Glade Plugin:)

My husband’s niece got married this past weekend. We decided about a month ago to go ahead and buy tickets and fly home for the wedding and I managed to tell my parents but forgot to tell a couple of my closest girlfriends that I’d be home for a quick visit. It actually worked out better that way! I surprised both of my girls and it made the whole trip well worth it!
I managed to grab a few snaps of my crazy kid. He was so spiffed up in his little outfit, who wouldn’t want to capture these forever?

About an hour after these photos were taken, this happy little man fell fast asleep at the beginning of the ceremony. I guess being Momma’s special model for 10 minutes really takes a lot out of a kid.

The whole week while we visited my family in Minnesota, my Dad promised my Little Man a ride in the skid loader and a tractor. When he finally got to go, he couldn’t have been more thrilled! He still talks about the skid loader and the red tractor that he got to ride on with Grandpa Dave. It’s definitely something he won’t forget because when we were home, that was the first time that the Little Man stepped foot on a farm. Oh wait, that’s a lie. The last time he was on my parents’ farm, was when he was about 15 months old. That was the last time we visited while we lived in Oki. Not much to remember at 15 months old. Oh but this time there was definitely a lot to remember! Four-wheeler riding all over the yard, bunny rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, peacocks and kittens! Did I throw peacocks in there? Yes, yes I did! A male AND a female. Believe it! So much to remember!

This is my favorite series of Dad and my little guy. The expressions are so genuine. For me, touching. For them, fun!
Here is a really cool Minnesota sunset on the way home from my sister’s Graduation. It was so pretty, I made Paul stop and pull over so I could capture it quick before it slipped beneath us. What a beautiful night!

An awesome shot of Little Man at my sister's graduation. There was a great big 'ol window where we STOOD for the WHOLE ceremony.
And a nice parting shot of my Dad’s back. Little Man is still sitting in front of him but this image felt like a good one to leave for the end of the post:

You know how we all have names for our siblings, right? Well my sister definitely deserves hers! When we were home in June, we stayed long enough to see her graduate from nursing. In the very beginning of her graduation ceremony, they gave away the Academic Award and guess who got it? My dorky sister, Stacy.

She was always the smart one between the 2 of us. Looks like I got the good-looks instead. I'd rather be pretty than be smart anyway!
And that’s her bound-to-be-nerdy son, M. Either that or a basketball star because he’s so tall for his age. Or he could follow in Grandpa Dave’s footsteps and be a farmer. It’s really cute how he follows Grandpa around the farm.

This young man is only 5 months older than my boy. But it seems like there's so many more months in between the two! M is so stinkin' tall! Unfortunately, my kid is not. I still hold out hope for my baby. I hope he inherits his father's height and not mine.
There ya go, Seester. I hope you like them. If you don’t, I don’t care. Phlbbbbbr!

Looking at these and reading your funny post makes me want to go give my sister a wedgie… and then a hug… and then another wedgie.
Cheers,

Baby J | Brandon/Riverview Children’s Photographer

I became friends with Sara right around 2nd or 3rd grade. I’m not exactly sure of what bonded us but I do remember her and I in 4th grade trying to convince our mom’s to grow our sideburns out. I kid you not, both Sara and I had mullets. But back then we didn’t call them mullets. We just called it getting our sides cut off at the same level as the top of our ears. Ewwww! Thank God that trend is no longer an issue with us! Truthfully, Sara looked way cuter with the mullet than I did. I was just the poor little Asian girl whose Momma didn’t have any taste in hair styles. I’ve made up for it since. I am a hairdresser now. That’s all I have to say about that.
Sara had a baby 4 weeks before I traveled home for a visit. She contacted me about getting some naked shots of her sweet unborn child and I jumped at the chance to do it. I was ecstatic to have the chance! Here’s what we got:

This was the very first shot out of my camera that day. It was a sweet moment and there was something about it that made me realize that my silly friend is completely in love with being a Mommy.
He he, chocolate and all! I love that sweet smile on her! Looks like her Mommy when she was that little.
Well, there you go Ryan and Sara. I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek. Your Gallery is on it’s way!!!

You are hilarious. Love the dramatic feather display…very nice! Congrats on being a dairy princess…it’s something more young girls should aspire too…did you get your head carved in butter?
You could have at least cleaned the crap off the shoe cubby before you took the picture, but I guess if the glade plugin is in the picture everything is cool then.
LOL! OH Kelly! I should’ve known that only a MN girl would ask if I got my head carved in butter! No, I did not. That’s only if you happen to be lucky enough to be Princess Kay of the Milky Way. I didn’t make it past my county. When I competed at Regionals, there was a girl that had competed for like 5 years at the county level and finally won Regionals. Shucks! Oh, what the other girls will think when they read this! He he.
wow, they look fantastic in that vase.
